Behind the Seams:
Dolly Parton and the Makers
A Documentary deep dive on Dolly Parton’s most influential designers, Behind the Seams.
Won Best Documentary at Lipscomb’s 5 Minute Film Festival 2024
First Documentary
Documentaries are no joke, first of all. You never know how it’ll come together until you have dozens of string outs and selects of interview questions and answers.
Luckily, I worked with an incredible team of three who helped compile the flow of the edit!
Emotions with Care
With the heartfelt scene paying tribute to Allie West, we wanted to handle the footage and BRoll with as much care as possible. We knew that it would mean more to us and the audience to let Hillary speak about her best friend uninterrupted.
It taught me that when editing these scenes, a lot of care and consideration needs to be prioritized, even when doing this job.
Serious Outcomes and Feedback
The final edit was displayed at our Dolly Parton: Behind the Seams Gallery at Lipscomb University 2024.
Hearing about the positive feedback from those who went to the exhibit was heartwarming since I mainly focused on the documentary video playing in the lobby. Not only that, but I was so proud to hear that it was being distributed to DollyWood!
