Background
During the time of editing this film, I was working on Muse at the same time for the same class.
Being on both projects taught me a lot about time management and being able to handle two major projects at a time.
Montages
Montages used to be a challenge for me, until I found out the key is to have a clear, underlying rhythm.
Fun fact: The montage came before the temp music, so when the music was placed in, each cut was somehow synced to the beats and rhythm of the song!
The Edit
Plus One’s editing came very natural for me. I would not say this edit was easy, but making the edit fluid and seamless is always at the forefront of what I do.
Being able to focus on romantic emotions and the human experience was something I was grateful to dive into for this project.
Specifics of this Scene
This is the one scene I independently edited that remained locked from Roughcut before the director’s review. There were lots of airplane noises in the background, which made it harder to gauge whether the scene was working or not.
It taught me a trick I still use to this day; muting a scene to gauge the visual flow can be helpful without the unfinished audio interrupting your viewing experience.
